Students touring Prosser

Sophomores at Salem High School will get their first experience in choosing their future with the option to apply to Prosser. Tomorrow, the group is going on a field trip to Prosser Career Education Center in New Albany so students can tour the facility.

Prosser offers a variety of beneficial skills and resources for students' futures, especially in the trades.

“Prosser offers real-world experience, and hands-on training through 28 different career and technical programs,” said SHS counselor Andrea Pitcock.

She said students can start a high paying job right out of high school, or get a jump start on their college career by earning college credits at Prosser.

This field trip show the options students have for their future.

“Students not only get to hear about the programs offered, but get to see the hands-on classes and programs while doing the tour,” she said.

Students might discover a career path that they hadn't been thinking of or it could help reinforce the career path that they are already thinking about.

Prosser has a very competitive program to get into the trade school. You can start your process as a freshman.

“The programs are getting more and more competitive, so grades and GPA are definitely important, but having good attendance, a strong work ethic, and good behavior is very important, too!” said Pitcock.

Prosser is a great way for students to get started on their future careers.
