The FFA received a $2,500 grant from Hoosier Uplands to purchase an incubator and chicken breeder. FFA sponsor Seth Purlee intends to use this for classroom animal growth labs. He also plans to have an exhibit at the county fair to educate youth and the community about animal growth. Purlee is excited about the opportunity to use these two items to better agriculture programs and said The FFA is thankful to Hoosier Uplands for the opportunity.
FFA member Lauren Clodfelter said the purchase of these two items gives more opportunity to tell people about poultry and teach them that there's more stuff to birds than just being a bird. She said it also gives experience to people that arenāt familiar with birds. Clodfelter thinks this will be a great step up for the agriculture program at SHS.
