Story written by Saphira Jarvis and Brianna Bobo
Sophomores will be going to Prosser at the end of November to learn about all the opportunities the school offers. Students will get an opportunity to see what the classrooms look like, as well as meet some of the teachers and see students in action.
Counselor Chris Mahuron said that students always hear about Prosser, but they need to see what Prosser has to offer and what opportunities there are first hand.
“We always try to work toward the students’ goals and the best way to achieve them,” said Mahuron.
She said sometimes Prosser is a good route for careers, but some students may work better staying at school with classes to better meet their needs. Prosser is an application process. They need good grades (2.0 cumulative GPA or higher). Students also need good attendance and good behavior.
Although the application process is changing this year, Mahuron will be finding out what the change to the application process will be before sophomores go on the field trip.
Prosser has many programs for students, some programs are Culinary Arts, Automotive Collision Repair, Criminal Justice, Dental Careers, Fire rescue and EMT and Welding Technology. Prosser has many other careers which can be found online.
Students attend Prosser their junior and senior years of high school.
