The Salem High School drama club recently had its first performance of the year. The play was directed by English teacher Mark Carter. The club presented three, one act, plays of “The Lottery,” “The Tell-Tale Heart” and “A Rose For Emily.”
“Honestly, it could have been better and it could have been worse," Carter said, when asked how the play went. “We could have used another week of rehearsals, and I wish we had had bigger audiences. All in all, I was pleased with the way it turned out.”
Next March Carter will be directing another play called “The Curious Savage,” which will be a comedy. He said anyone interested in joining drama club or participating in the play next spring can contact him or listen to the announcements for the time and place for the next meeting.
“I would encourage anyone interested to get involved in drama club,” he said. “You don't have to be an actor! We need people to run lights and sound, help build sets, assist backstage, etc. Please come talk to me if you are interested.”
Carter will also be assisting with a musical next May. “The musical is still undecided, but we are considering a few different options,” he said.
